Where’s the Likeable Engine?

The Likeable interface

The Likeable interface, showing the most-shared stories on Wednesday, August 16, 2016.

You might have noticed that the Likeable Engine – our tracking software that monitors the sharing of news stories on Facebook – is no longer publicly available.

From now, its url will resolve to the Share Wars front page.

Likeable will continue to operate in the background, scanning 150 news sites every 15 minutes, but the results will no longer be accessible to the public.

Thanks to those who’ve written to us in the lead up to Likeable’s shuttering. If you’re interested in reading more about Likeable, Hal wrote this nice piece after its birth. Here’s another good read from proud dad Dom, as Likeable made its public debut.

If you want to get in touch, email us here: likeableengine@gmail.com

Follow this blog for updates and insights from the Share Wars team, which will still be powered by the Likeable Engine.

Check out this early version of the interface. The chart’s lines show a story’s shareability over time, something we’d never seen graphically represented until the Likeable Engine was born. Pure utilitarian beauty.
